      • Visits to four cities in Japan (Tokyo, Kobe, Kani and Minokami) advising local authorities on European approaches to migration, integration and interculturality(2009)
      • Advising the Norwegian Government property agency Statsbygg on creative options for re-use of redundant properties. (2008) 

          • Selected to participate in the British Council Interaction programme, designed to build links between leaders in Africa and the UK. Worked in Abuja, Nigeria. (2008)

              • Lecture tour of Australia - Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane (2008) 

                  • Director of the 250 delegate, 3-day The Intercultural City Conference, in association with Liverpool Capital of Culture, British Council and Council of Europe (2008) 

                      • Making the Most of Diversity – a major project on behalf of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation which explores the extent to which ethnic and cultural diversity contributes to innovation and new thinking and its potential for driving regeneration in cities in the UK, US, Norway, Australia and New Zealand (2004-06). Download report  

                          • Establishment of a Cultural Partnership and production of a Cultural Strategy for Wakefield District Partnership (2006 ) 

                              • Co-ordinated the cultural element in the masterplanning team led by EDAW to produce an Area Development Framework for South Sheffield Housing Market Renewal Area.(2006)

                                              • Expert advisor for the development of the Creative Energy Centre, a creative incubator in the city of Wollongong, Australia (2004);

                                                  • Oldham Beyond – a 12 month project leading to a 20 year vision for a borough torn by ethnic strife, taking in urban planning and architecture, economic development, cultural change and community cohesion (2003/4) Download report
                                                  • Development of a Data and Intelligence Framework for the Creative Industries in London commissioned by London Development Agency (2003), establishing authoritative definitions and measurement tools for the largest creative economy in Europe;
                                                  • Leading the East Midlands Creative Industries Study on behalf of East Midlands Development Agency – the largest such study ever commissioned in the UK. Also acting as Cluster Manager for Creative Industries for EMDA during 2003;
                                                  • Yorkshire Forward – The Renaissance Towns Initiative with particular responsibility for consultation with ‘town teams’ and assessing the feasibility of a regional centre of excellence for regeneration and renaissance (2003);
                                                  • Expert input to Migration, a Symposium on culture and development in northern Norway and Russia for the Barents Secretariat (2003);
                                                  • The Schader Foundation - Urban Creativity: Western European and Eastern Germany’s experiences in dealing with urban decline (2002) external consultant to this programme taking five declining Easter German towns (Leipzig, Frankfurt/Oder, Schwerin, Neuruppin and Zwickau).
                                                  • The Council of Europe – Cultural Entrepreneurship and Cultural Diversity in Eastern Europe as an expert advisor to this programme which is concerned with building infrastructures and expertise in Russia and Eastern Europe for the development of indigenous creative industries within local economic development strategies; (2002-2003)
                                                  • City of Difference, a project for Birmingham City Council concerned with urban planning and cultural diversity working with leading authority, Prof Leonie Sandercock(2002);
                                                  • Critical Mass in Sport and Culture for Competitive Advantage. A study on behalf of Liverpool City Council and the Core Cities Group investigating the impact of investment in sport and culture on inward investment and business location decisions, (2002) 
                                                  • Led the project to develop a joint cultural framework on behalf of the Core Cities Group of major English cities: Releasing the Cultural Potential of our Core Cities (2002);
                                                  • South Tyneside Transformation Commission; production of a creative vision for one of England’s most deprived districts through an integrated plan for governance, the economy, education, and urban design (2002);
                                                  • Mapping Study of the Culture Cluster of the North East region of England for One North East in association with the University of Newcastle (2001);
                                                  • Led consultative process for preparation of Manchester City Council Local Cultural Strategy (2000).
